Yemen's Houthis Urge Saudi Arabia to Resume Peace Talks While Mobilising Hundreds of Thousands of Fighters

Houthi officials in Sana'a called on Saudi Arabia to return to the peace‑talks table and implement the agreed‑upon roadmap, warning that the current "no peace, no war" stalemate threatens Yemen’s path to stability. In a meeting with UN special envoy Anthony Hayes’s senior military adviser, deputy foreign minister Abdulwahid Abu Ras said the group remains committed to the Stockholm and Hodeidah agreements and is ready to facilitate the transfer of UNMHA duties to the envoy’s office. He urged Saudi Arabia to address pending humanitarian issues, notably the restrictions on Sanaa airport and imports.

At the same time, the Houthis announced a large‑scale "general mobilisation" force, claiming hundreds of thousands of trained combatants are on standby for immediate deployment to the front lines. The mobilisation is framed as a response to perceived aggression and a pledge to lift the siege, protect Palestinian interests and counter Saudi influence. The statement linked the threat of escalation to recent Iran‑U.S. diplomatic developments, praising Iran’s “great victories” and emphasizing a regional "unity of fronts" strategy. The group warned that any continuation of the status quo could reignite wider conflict in Yemen.
