Yemen's National Defense Council raises military readiness after Houthi attacks
President Rashad Mohamed Al‑Alimi convened an emergency meeting of Yemen's National Defense Council, attended by senior members of the Presidential Leadership Council and key ministers. The council reviewed recent Houthi missile and drone strikes on military installations, sovereign facilities, civilian homes and displaced‑people camps in the Marib, Hadramaut and Shabwah governorates, which caused casualties including women and children.
The council expressed condolences to the families of the dead and wounded, pledged medical care and support for the families, and reaffirmed its commitment to continue operations aimed at restoring state institutions, ending the Iranian‑backed coup, resuming salaries for staff in conflict‑affected areas, and safeguarding regional navigation. It also vowed to maintain the highest level of military readiness, improve coordination among armed forces, security agencies and intelligence services, and to counter any further terrorist threats.
