Yemen National Defense Council raises military readiness after Houthi attacks

Yemen's National Defense Council, chaired by President Rashad al-Alimi, held an emergency meeting to address recent military escalations by Houthi militias. The council discussed Houthi attacks involving ballistic missiles and drones targeting military sites, sovereign facilities, and civilian areas—including homes and displacement camps—in the Marib, Hadramaut, and Shabwah governorates.

In response to these attacks, which resulted in casualties among both military personnel and civilians, the Council resolved to raise military and security readiness levels. The Council also decided to remain in a state of permanent session to monitor field developments. The leadership emphasized that these actions are part of a continued effort to restore state institutions and end the coup.

The Council noted that resolving the conflict is essential for regional security, protecting international maritime navigation, and enabling the resumption of civil servant salaries in Houthi-controlled areas.
