Yeni Parti faces internal leadership disputes and congress tensions
The Yeni Parti is experiencing internal friction following the announcement of its congress schedule. In Çanakkale, founding Biga District President Cemal Mantar announced he would not run for his position, claiming he is not leaving the party or politics. However, reports suggest his decision follows Çanakkale Mayor Muharrem Erkek’s support for Barış Çetin as a candidate.
Internal competition is reportedly occurring across various districts between different political factions. These tensions have previously manifested in physical altercations, such as a knife attack in Gaziantep involving party member Seydi Ahmet Keleş and MP Melih Meriç. Additionally, disputes have arisen regarding membership lists and the integrity of the election process.
Separately, in Afyonkarahisar, Yeni Parti Provincial Chairman Hasan Karadeniz led a wreath-laying ceremony at the Atatürk Monument to commemorate the 104th anniversary of Victory Day. Karadeniz emphasized the party’s commitment to the values of the Republic, democracy, and the rule of law.
