Yeni Parti faces legal challenge over name similarity

The Yeni Parti is facing a legal challenge regarding its name following an objection by the Yenilik Partisi. The Yenilik Partisi filed a complaint with the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation (Yargıtay), arguing that the names 'Yeni' and 'Yenilik' are too similar and could cause confusion among voters.

Following a notification from the Court of Cassation requesting a name change, Yeni Parti leadership has decided to maintain its current name and await a final ruling from the Constitutional Court (AYM). Party spokesperson Zeynel Emre stated that they do not believe there is any 'confusion' (iltibas) between the two parties and that their registration processes were conducted transparently and legally.

If the Constitutional Court issues a warning (ihtar) requiring a name change, Yeni Parti officials noted they would comply. They have identified 'Değişim Partisi' as a potential alternative name. The legal process is expected to conclude within one to two months, with the party's first general congress scheduled for November.
