YENİ Parti organizational expansion in Turkey
Overview
The YENİ Parti continues to accelerate its organizational expansion and formalize its leadership structure across Turkey. The party has officially launched its first congress process, utilizing a two-stage election model. According to Party Spokesperson Zeynel Emre, district elections are scheduled for September 12, followed by provincial elections on October 18. The goal is to complete all provincial congresses by October 27, with the grand convention to be determined by the Party Assembly. To participate in these processes, members must have joined by August 26. Membership growth remains a central focus. As of August 26, the party announced it has surpassed 500,000 members, following a surge of approximately 100,000 new registrations in just two days. This rapid growth has drawn scrutiny in Gaziantep regarding manual registrations, and allegations from CHP sources suggesting that YENİ Parti leadership utilized existing CHP membership registration infrastructure and data to facilitate the influx. To support its operations, the party has opened a four-story general headquarters in Ankara, funded through public donations, which is scheduled to begin full operations on August 31. Regional expansion is also accelerating, with new district offices opening in Marmaris, Nizip, Narlıdere, and Çorlu. In Muğla, the party reported reaching 22,000 members within ten days of its local establishment. Internal friction has surfaced, marked by the resignation of Baransel Atay, a founding district administrator in Araklı, Trabzon, who cited disagreements with local management and alleged he was subjected to “slander and disrespect in a public setting.” On the municipal level, the party is gaining ground, including the addition of Yomra Mayor Mustafa Bıyık and nine council members from the CHP. In İzmir, Provincial Chairman Çağatay Güç reported that the party has organized across all 30 districts, with 20 municipalities joining.
