Turkish political parties split over proposed Framework Law FAST-MOVING
Turkish political parties have expressed divergent stances regarding the proposed 'Framework Law' (Milli Dayanışma ve Toplumsal Bütünleşmenin Güçlendirilmesine Dair Kanun Teklifi) currently under debate in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
Özgür Özel, leader of the YENİ Parti, announced that while the party maintains its right to oppose the legislation, its leadership and executives will vote 'yes' to support the nation's hope for peace. However, he noted that individual members of parliament will vote according to their own conscience and the will of their constituents rather than following a strict party block.
In contrast, Müsavat Dervişoğlu, leader of the İYİ Parti, declared that his party will vote 'no'. He criticized the proposal for allegedly reversing the necessary sequence of disarmament and legal integration, and argued that the text fails to properly address terrorism issues.
Other political figures provided further critiques. CHP Deputy Chairman Cemal Canpolat emphasized that lasting peace requires the rule of law and equal citizenship. Meanwhile, TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan characterized the legislative process as a counter-revolutionary move rather than a genuine solution to structural issues.
