Yeni Parti expands presence and begins congress process in Turkey

The Yeni Parti, established by Özgür Özel following a crisis within the CHP, is undergoing rapid organizational expansion and formalizing its leadership structure across Turkey.

In Ankara, the political landscape of the Metropolitan Municipality Council has shifted. While the CHP’s seat count has decreased, Yeni Parti has grown to 30 members. Speculation regarding Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş joining the new party persists, though reports suggest he remains in the CHP to maintain the current council balance and prevent a shift in power toward the Cumhur İttifakı.

Nationwide, the party is launching its first congress process. A two-stage election model will be used, allowing members to directly participate in selecting district and provincial leaders. Key dates include district elections on September 12 and provincial elections on October 18.

Local organizational efforts are also accelerating, with new service buildings opening in Söke, Ödemiş, and Kuşadası. In Zonguldak and Trabzon, party officials have issued urgent calls for membership registration ahead of upcoming deadlines to ensure voters can participate in the upcoming internal elections.
