YENİ Party gains hundreds of local officials from CHP

The YENİ Party has seen a significant influx of political figures from the Republican People's Party (CHP). Reports indicate that out of 258 mayors who resigned from the CHP, 242 have joined the YENİ Party. Additionally, approximately three-quarters of the CHP's 3,650 municipal council members have also transitioned to the new party.

In Istanbul, preparations are underway to establish a YENİ Party group within the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Council. Party officials suggest that the number of CHP members in the İBB Council could drop from 153 to between 10 and 15 by November.

The political shift has also affected provincial councils. While the CHP maintained its majority in Tunceli and Edirne, the YENİ Party secured majorities in five other provinces. In Ankara, party officials noted that Mayor Mansur Yavaş is managing the transition process within the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Council.
