Yeosu City targets price gouging ahead of 2026 Island Exhibition

Yeosu City is implementing measures to prevent price gouging and improve service quality ahead of the 2026 Yeosu World Island Exhibition. The city recently held its fourth meeting of the '2026 Accommodation and Food Service Price Stability Task Force' to review departmental progress and discuss field response strategies.

To ensure a positive experience for the expected influx of tourists, the city will focus on monitoring price trends, hygiene, and service friendliness in key areas, including popular spots like Nangman Pocha. The initiative aims to prevent excessive fees and discourteous behavior that could deter visitors.

Additionally, Yeosu is promoting tourism through programs such as the ‘Seomseom Pass’ and ‘Island Half-Price Travel’ to reduce the financial burden on travelers and stimulate local consumption. The city plans to maintain a close collaboration between relevant departments and the local hospitality industry to ensure a stable and welcoming environment until the exhibition opens.
