Yilan County magistrate candidates intensify local election campaigns
Candidates for the Yilan County magistrate position are intensifying their local campaigns. Wu Tsung-hsien held a symposium at a former military dependents' village community, where he shared personal childhood memories to connect with elderly residents. His proposed platform includes accelerating railway elevation projects in Yilan City and implementing a “2 Flat, 1 Bright, 1 Quiet” plan to improve road surfaces, lighting, and noise control. Additionally, Wu pledged to expand senior citizen subsidies to increase disposable income for retirees.
Meanwhile, Democratic Progressive Party candidate Lin Kuo-chang has launched a regional promotional activity titled “Yilan Stamp Map.” The initiative invites residents to visit 12 different townships to collect unique stamps representing local landmarks and products, such as Guishan Island, Jiaoxi hot springs, and Sanxing scallions. Participants who complete the full map can redeem a limited-edition signed hat. The campaign aims to encourage residents to engage with the diverse landscapes and cultures across the various townships of Yilan.
