Yildızlar SSS Holding mine workers in Giresun protest unpaid wages

Around 200 workers at the Nesko Mine in Şebinkarahisar, Giresun province, owned by Yıldızlar SSS Holding, staged a protest on 12 June demanding payment of wages that have been withheld since March. The employees say they received only the January and February salaries, with the March pay missing and earlier months paid irregularly. They report being unable to cover rent, food and basic utilities, and have accrued debts to local merchants. Several workers described threats of dismissal and pressure to end the strike, while others highlighted that the company has failed to pay regular salaries consistently since it acquired the mine in 2009. Protesters appealed directly to the Turkish president and other officials, urging an end to what they describe as a severe livelihood crisis.
