Yogini Ekadashi 2026: July 10‑11 Rituals Promise Merit of Feeding 80,000 Brahmins

Yogini Ekadashi, a sacred Hindu fast dedicated to Lord Vishnu, will be observed on July 10‑11, 2026. The fast begins at 08:16 AM on July 10 and ends at 05:22 AM on July 11, with the parana (break) window on the afternoon of July 11.

Devotees are instructed to wake early, bathe, make a sankalp, and worship Vishnu with yellow flowers, fruits, panchamrit, tulsi leaves and other offerings such as milk, ghee, honey and seasonal fruits. Mantras such as “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya” are chanted 108 times, and the Yogini Ekadashi Vrat Katha is recited. Lighting oil lamps at the main door, near a tulsi plant, and under a peepal tree is considered especially auspicious.

Observing the fast is believed to erase past sins and grant the merit equivalent to feeding 80,000 Brahmins. Traditional guidelines advise avoiding tamasic foods (garlic, onion, meat, alcohol, rice), breaking tulsi leaves, using regular salt instead of rock‑salt, and refraining from anger or disputes. Following these prescriptions is said to ensure the full spiritual benefit of the observance.
