Yogyakarta experiences sunny day with sharp night‑day temperature swings

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts mostly clear skies across Yogyakarta's districts on Monday, with temperatures ranging from 20‑30 °C and varying humidity. The forecast is expected to support daytime activities such as commuting, school, farming and tourism.

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) warns residents about the local “bediding” phenomenon, where nighttime temperatures may drop to 19‑21 °C while daytime highs can reach 31‑32 °C. BPBD highlights health risks such as acute respiratory infections, dehydration and heat stroke, and urges precautions including warm clothing at night, staying hydrated and avoiding open‑air burning or careless disposal of cigarette butts.

BPBD has activated 24‑hour rapid‑response teams and local disaster posts to monitor conditions, especially as the dry season may increase fire hazards. The agency also stresses safe electrical installations and reduced outdoor activity during the hottest periods.
