BMKG forecasts mixed rain and clear skies as Indonesia enters peak dry season

Indonesia’s meteorological agency, BMKG, issued weather forecasts for several regions on 5‑6 July 2026. Jakarta and its surrounding districts are expected to remain clear and dry throughout the day, with temperatures between 26 °C and 33 °C. In West Java, light to moderate rain is predicted for parts of Bogor, Sukabumi, Bandung and Garut, especially in the afternoon and evening.

Central Java and Central Java’s coastal resorts are forecast to be mostly sunny to partly cloudy, with isolated light showers possible in mountain areas and at night. The agency also warned of scattered thunderstorms in Pontianak and Palu, as well as reduced visibility from haze in Bengkulu and Yogyakarta.

BMKG reported that 48.9 % of Indonesia’s territory has entered the dry season, with the peak expected between July and September. An El Niño pattern is developing, likely leading to below‑normal rainfall in more than 80 % of the country through October. The agency advised farmers to adjust planting schedules, use drought‑tolerant crops, and urged the public to keep monitoring updates, especially in regions prone to rain or haze.
