Indonesia hosts diverse cultural and sporting festivals

Various cultural and sporting events are being held across Indonesia to promote local heritage and tourism. In Sleman, the Transmigrasi Festival 2026 featured a 6K Fun Run at Kaliurang, a collaboration between BBPPMT Yogyakarta and Kadin Sleman designed to combine sport tourism with the promotion of transmigration programs and MSMEs.

In Yogyakarta, the Jogja Fashion Carnival (JFC) 2026 showcased 19 creative costume groups in Malioboro to celebrate cultural diversity. Additionally, the Prawirotaman Festival aims to boost international tourist arrivals through culinary and fashion events in the city's international district. Other notable events include the Melinting Fest in Lampung, which featured 1,000 dancers, and the Pagelaran Sabang Merauke 2026 in Jakarta, which used performing arts to highlight gender-based violence and female empowerment.

Health and wellness-focused events are also prominent, such as the BrookFarm Almond Run in Jakarta and the Beyond Running 2026 event at The Rich Jogja Hotel. Environmental awareness was highlighted through the Run for Orangutans 10K in North Sumatra, which emphasized forest conservation. Local traditions continue to be celebrated through activities like the Mappadendang dance in Bogor and traditional Dagongan competitions in Kediri.
