Yogyakarta officials host book discussions to promote literacy
The Yogyakarta Regional Library and Archives Office (DPAD DIY), in collaboration with the Yogyakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD DIY), has organized a series of book discussion events aimed at increasing public literacy and social awareness.
One event featured the book ‘Merakit Ayodya’ by Nasrul Khoiri, which explores the history and identity of Yogyakarta. The book traces the origins of the Yogyakarta Sultanate from its relocation 267 years ago and examines various aspects of the region, including its culture, education, economy, and social etiquette.
A second event focused on the book ‘HOMEPOWER: Menumbuhkan Keluarga, Memaknai Hidup’ by Giva Tri Putri Guntari and Taat Setyabudi. This discussion addressed the challenges of maintaining family connections in the digital age, highlighting how technology can lead to emotional distance within households and emphasizing the importance of building a culture of literacy within the family unit.
