Yokohama High School advances to Kanto baseball semifinals

Yokohama High School advanced to the semifinals of the 79th Autumn Kanto High School Baseball Tournament after defeating Jutoku High School 9-2 in a seven-inning mercy rule victory on October 20.

The win secures Yokohama's spot in the Spring Koshien tournament, marking their fifth consecutive appearance. Ace pitcher Tetsusaburo Kobayashi pitched a complete seven-inning game, allowing only two runs and recording a top speed of 148 km/h.

Following a recent loss to Keio High School that ended a 43-game winning streak in Kanagawa Prefecture, Yokohama manager Hiroaki Murata implemented a period of no practice to allow the team to reset. Players and coaches engaged in discussions to address the team's mental state and performance.

Kobayashi, a highly regarded left-handed pitcher and U18 Asia Championship runner-up, expressed his intention to succeed the mantle of the team's ace following the departure of Oda Shoki to the United States.
