Yokosuka and Yokohama host Hawaiian‑themed summer festivals in Japan
The Mercure Hotel Yokosuka is running a Hawaiian‑themed summer gourmet fair called “Sunset in Hawaii” from 16 July to 29 August 2026. The dinner buffet, held on the 20th‑floor Sky Banquet, offers an all‑you‑can‑eat menu of Hawaiian dishes such as King’s Hawaiian‑approved tropical char‑siew sliders, lomi‑lomi salmon, garlic shrimp and tropical cocktails, with free admission for children under school age. Additional items such as a Hawaiian steak are available for an extra fee, and guests can enter a giveaway for official merchandise and hotel stay vouchers.
At the same time, nearby Yokohama hosts the “FUN! ALOHA! 2026 in YOKOHAMA” festival during the three‑day holiday. The event features Hawaiian music, food stalls serving garlic shrimp, traditional costumes, and souvenir sales. The city recorded a high of 32.7 °C, part of a heatwave affecting over 110 locations across Kanto to western Japan. Other summer attractions drawing crowds include a national beetle‑wrestling tournament in Saga and sunflower displays in Fukui.
