Yongin Special City Council approves Bandabi Sports Center plan
The Yongin Special City Council has passed several key measures during its 306th regular session, most notably the approval of the plan to construct the Bandabi Sports Center. The center, designed for both people with disabilities and non-disabled citizens, had previously faced three rejections before successfully passing on its fourth attempt.
Located at the Yongin Mireu Stadium temporary parking site in Samga-dong, the facility will span 23,700 square meters and include a 50-meter, 10-lane swimming pool with over 2,000 seats. The approved plan also includes expanding the dedicated disabled swimming area to 310 square meters. Following this approval, the city plans to conduct feasibility studies and move toward basic and detailed design phases.
In addition to the sports center, the council approved 28 total items, including various ordinances related to local currency, waste management, and urban construction. During the session, Council Member Cho Kang-hyun proposed the introduction of a ‘step-by-step civil complaint notification service’ to increase transparency in how the city processes citizen requests.
