Yongin Special City to subsidize exam fees for unemployed youth

Yongin Special City has announced a support program to subsidize certification and language exam fees for unemployed youth to reduce the financial burden of job seeking. Starting September 1, the city will offer up to 300,000 KRW per person annually for qualifying exams.

The program, part of the Gyeonggi Youth Capacity Building Opportunity Support Project, utilizes a total budget of approximately 322.95 million KRW, funded equally by provincial and municipal sources. Eligible applicants must be unemployed residents of Yongin aged 18 to 39. Short-term workers with less than one year of employment are considered unemployed for this program.

Supported examinations include 1,005 different types, covering 19 types of official language tests such as TOEIC and TOEFL, the Korean History Proficiency Test, 541 types of national technical qualifications, 345 types of national professional qualifications, and 99 types of nationally recognized private qualifications.

Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through the ‘Jobaba Apply’ integrated registration system starting at 9:00 AM on September 1. Duplicate support from similar central government or local programs is restricted, though partial support may be available if there is a remaining out-of-pocket balance after other subsidies.
