Yordan Álvarez hits 40 home runs and leads AL in WPA

Houston Astros slugger Yordan Álvarez reached a significant milestone by hitting his 40th home run of the season during a 6-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals at Daikin Park. Álvarez is only the fifth player in franchise history to record 40 or more home runs in a single season, joining Jeff Bagwell, Lance Berkman, Richard Hidalgo, and Alex Bregman.

Beyond the milestone, statistical analysis using Win Probability Added (WPA) places Álvarez as the player with the highest impact on victory probabilities in the American League. With a WPA of 6.50, he leads the league in this metric, which measures how much a player's actions increase or decrease their team's chances of winning based on the specific context of the game.
