Yoruba activist Sunday Igboho rallies 80,000 security volunteers, warns against Fulani herders

Yoruba leader Sunday Igboho announced that more than 80,000 volunteers have signed up for the Iru Ekun Security Network, a community‑based outfit aimed at curbing kidnapping, terrorism and other crimes in the South‑West. The network, launched in Oyo and Osun states and slated for Kwara, is said to have reduced abductions and works with the Nigeria Police Force, the Ministry of Defence and other federal agencies.

In a separate statement, Igboho issued a quit notice to Fulani herdsmen, threatening to confront any who enter Yoruba farms and saying his forces are prepared to resist police action. He reiterated calls for a separate Yoruba nation and pledged to support President Bola Tinubu’s security initiatives.
