Young Croatian Firefighter Gabrijela Killed in A1 Highway Crash

Gabrijela, an 18‑year‑old volunteer firefighter from the Krašić fire brigade, died in a serious traffic accident on the A1 highway near Jastrebarsko, Croatia. Police reports indicate she was driving a BMW without a driver’s licence and collided with an Opel Astra operated by a 56‑year‑old Hungarian driver. After the impact, her vehicle left the road, struck a fence and trees, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fire brigade and local community posted heartfelt tributes on social media, describing her as generous, self‑less and an enduring inspiration. One statement read, “S neizmjernom tugom i boli opraštamo se od naše mlade kolegice… Njena plemenitost, nesebičnost i spremnost da pomogne drugima ostat će trajna inspiracija svima nama.” The incident has deeply affected fellow firefighters and residents throughout Croatia.
