Young Health Programme 2026-2029 launched in Vietnam
The Young Health Programme (YHP) for the 2026-2029 period was officially launched in Can Tho, Vietnam, through a collaboration between the Can Tho Department of Education and Training, Plan International Vietnam, and AstraZeneca Vietnam.
Addressing the global rise of non-communicable diseases, which account for approximately 80% of deaths in Vietnam, the initiative aims to equip adolescents with the knowledge and skills to manage health risks. These risks include tobacco use, harmful alcohol consumption, poor nutrition, physical inactivity, and the impacts of climate change.
Funded by AstraZeneca with a total global budget exceeding $100 million through 2030, the program has already reached 23 million young people worldwide. For the 2026-2030 phase, the program targets reaching an additional 10 million adolescents and training 800,000 young advocates to influence public policy.
