Young men arrested after violent assaults in Târgu‑Jiu and Galaţi, Romania

In Târgu‑Jiu, Gorj County, police detained a 23‑year‑old man for 24 hours after he struck a 37‑year‑old driver with a wooden object on his neck and face, and damaged the victim’s car on Ana Ipătescu Street. A provisional protection order was issued and a criminal case for assault and property damage was opened.

In Galaţi, an 18‑year‑old male passenger fled a routine traffic stop and sprayed a police officer with tear‑gas in a stairwell, causing eye injuries that require about a week of medical care.
