Youth gatherings increase across Spain due to viral ‘aura farming’ trend

The viral TikTok trend known as ‘aura farming’ has led to large gatherings of teenagers in various Spanish locations. In Sabadell, hundreds of young people gathered outside Fira Sabadell to participate in ‘aura battles.’ These competitions involve participants performing dances, acrobatics, or specific poses to demonstrate charisma and style, a concept referred to online as having ‘aura.’

Similarly, the trend has reached Mallorca, where hundreds of youths congregated in Palma near Plaza de España and Parc de ses Estacions. Participants in these gatherings compete to prove who possesses the most ‘aura,’ a term derived from gaming slang used to describe accumulating resources or experience. In Palma, organized events included symbolic entry fees and small cash prizes for winners.
