Youth wellbeing initiatives launched in Zamora and Zacatecas
Municipalities in Zamora, Spain, and Zacatecas, Mexico, have launched initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life and wellbeing of local youth through various social and educational programs.
In Zamora, the ‘Comunidad del Sereno’ program offers free weekend activities designed to provide healthy leisure alternatives. Part of the IV Municipal Plan on Drug Dependency and Other Addictive Behaviors, the project aims to prevent premature alcohol consumption and promote responsible technology use. Activities running through November 8 include sports, cultural workshops, dance sessions, and creative arts held at locations such as the Plaza de la Marina and the Ciudad Deportiva.
In Zacatecas, the Institute of Youth (Injuventud), in coordination with the Autonomous University of Zacatecas (UAZ), is conducting a series of preventive conferences for high school and university students. These sessions focus on physical, mental, and sexual health, covering topics such as safe sex, emergency contraception, unplanned pregnancy, and preventing harassment and discrimination. The initiative is part of the ‘Agenda del Progreso’ to encourage informed decision-making among young people.
