YouTube ends support for Android 6 and faces autoplay complaints

YouTube is set to end support for smartphones running Android 6 Marshmallow. This change will affect older devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy S5 and OnePlus X, which will lose access to the Play Store and the ability to update the YouTube app. Users on these operating systems may eventually be forced to use a web browser to access video services.

Separately, Android users are reporting issues with a new autoplay behavior in the YouTube app. When the app is opened after a period of inactivity, the most recent video begins playing automatically. This has caused frustration among both free and Premium subscribers, as there currently appears to be no setting to disable this function. Users have reported the issue on platforms like Reddit, with thousands confirming the behavior on official help pages.
