Yoweri Museveni directs administrative reforms and program oversight in Uganda

President Yoweri Museveni has issued directives to accelerate administrative and economic initiatives in Uganda. He instructed Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja to fast-track the operationalization of new administrative units in Tororo. This move follows demands from Members of Parliament, including Fredrick Angura and Nicholas Simon Owino, who called for the implementation of long-standing commitments to bring services closer to residents. Legislators also requested accountability regarding previously allocated funds intended for administrative infrastructure in the Tororo District.

In a separate address to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Parliamentary Caucus, President Museveni urged legislators to monitor government programs at the grassroots level. He specifically highlighted the Parish Development Model (PDM), a program designed to transition households from subsistence to a money-based economy, emphasizing that leaders must ensure resources reach intended beneficiaries. Additionally, the President issued warnings against the degradation of Uganda’s wetlands, directing those occupying protected areas to relocate while the government assists in finding alternative income sources.
