YPF and Neuquén Province push Argentina LNG forward with $175 million investment

YPF and the government of Argentina's Neuquén Province signed an agreement establishing regulatory and fiscal terms for the Argentina LNG project, a key initiative to export liquefied natural gas from Vaca Muerta. Under the pact, YPF will invest roughly USD 175 million in infrastructure to support project development, pending provincial legislative ratification and a final investment decision.

Governor Rolando Figueroa also announced two related moves: the submission of two candidates for the provincial Tribunal de Cuentas and the presentation of a “Ley de GNL” bill, developed with YPF, aimed at improving the competitiveness of the LNG project and attracting further investment. The governor highlighted that YPF has already contributed USD 175 million and, if the final investment decision is confirmed with partners such as ENI, another USD 175 million could be added for additional infrastructure. The measures are intended to boost Neuquén’s role in global gas markets and generate jobs and economic growth in the region.
