YS Jagan Mohan Reddy invited to CPI drought conference and seeks DSC probe
The Communist Party of India (CPI) has invited YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to a multi-party round-table conference in Vijayawada on September 26 to address severe drought conditions in Andhra Pradesh. CPI leaders have called for the drought to be declared a national calamity, alleging that actual cultivation has occurred on only 50 lakh acres despite government claims of 65 lakh acres.
Separately, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has called for a CBI inquiry into alleged irregularities within the District Selection Committee (DSC) recruitment process. In a representation to Governor S Abdul Nazeer, Jagan alleged that the examination process was compromised and demanded the resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh. He further cited concerns regarding sports recruitment certificates and alleged attacks on party supporters.
The CPI has also engaged with Congress leadership to coordinate actions regarding agricultural distress and electoral roll concerns.
