Andhra Pradesh DSC recruitment scandal

Entities: Andhra Pradesh government · Mega DSC teacher recruitment · Nara Lokesh · Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party · Margani Bharath

Overview

In late July 2026 the YSRCP intensified its campaign against Education Minister Nara Lokesh over alleged irregularities in the state’s District Selection Committee (DSC) teacher recruitment, demanding his resignation and a CBI probe. On July 24 the party cited paper‑leak accusations, TET violations and misuse of the sports‑quota, warning of statewide protests on July 28. The protests were carried out on July 27, reiterating the demand for Lokesh’s resignation and a central investigation.

That same day, TDP MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu and Andhra Pradesh MSME minister Kondapalli Srinivas defended the DSC drive, stating that 16,347 candidates had been selected through a transparent, large‑scale recruitment. They pointed to the publication of answer keys and results online, cited past irregularities such as the 2018 exam whose papers were only evaluated in 2022, and urged the centre to amend the Public Examinations Bill to penalise deliberate misinformation. The officials accused the YSRCP of defamation, highlighting regional fairness (e.g., 583 candidates from Vizianagaram) and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding the teaching workforce despite the opposition’s calls for Lokesh’s resignation and a CBI inquiry.
