YSRCP condemns police lathi-charge on Andhra Pradesh protesters

The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) has condemned a police lathi-charge on village and ward secretariat employees protesting for promotions and pay increments in Andhra Pradesh. Party leaders claim the coalition government has failed to fulfill election promises to double employee pay and is using police force to suppress legitimate demands.

In addition to the crackdown on secretariat staff, YSRCP leaders have warned of statewide agitation following alleged police harassment of workers protesting DSC-2025 irregularities. Party representatives met with the Vijayawada Deputy Commissioner of Police to demand an end to midnight arrests, intimidation tactics, and the registration of serious criminal charges, such as attempt-to-murder and SC/ST Atrocities Act cases, against party workers.

Leaders further alleged bias in the handling of public demonstrations, claiming that while YSRCP protests were denied permission, rallies for the TDP and Jana Sena were permitted. They also reported that individuals carrying sticks and rods attacked protesters at the SAAP office premises.
