YSRCP criticizes Naidu over social media influencer spending
The YSRCP has criticized Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, alleging that his administration is prioritizing publicity over public welfare. Spokesperson Putha Siva Sankar claimed that Rs 330 crore has been allocated to Information and Public Relations (I&PR), and questioned the necessity of a new state cabinet-approved framework to empanel social media influencers to promote government programs.
The YSRCP alleged that while influencers could be paid up to Rs 1.5 lakh per month, promised relief such as the Rs 3,000 unemployment allowance remains unpaid. The party further raised concerns regarding the potential use of fake followers and bots to divert public funds toward TDP and ITDP-linked accounts.
Additionally, the YSRCP accused the government of suppressing opposition social media accounts and harassing journalists. The party challenged the administration to use these influencers to address critical issues, including flooding in Amaravati, droughts in Rayalaseema, and unfulfilled campaign promises regarding women's financial aid and medical college management.
