Andhra Pradesh government faces protests over teacher recruitment irregularities

The Andhra Pradesh government is facing intense political scrutiny over alleged irregularities in the Mega District Selection Committee (DSC)-2025 teacher recruitment process. Members of the opposition Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) have demanded a CBI investigation, alleging issues such as question-paper leakage, the sale of teacher posts, and improper use of sports quota certificates. YSRCP leaders have called for the resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh, demanding he address the Legislative Council to provide accountability.

In the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council, the opposition staged protests, including climbing the chairman’s podium and using placards, to demand a debate on the matter. The ruling alliance countered these claims, with Agriculture Minister K Atchannaidu accusing the YSRCP of failing to conduct recruitment during their previous tenure.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu defended the integrity of the recruitment drive, asserting that the process was conducted strictly on merit without manipulation. He stated that the credibility of the initiative is reflected in positive feedback from candidates. Meanwhile, a delegation from the Delhi government visited the state to study Andhra Pradesh’s industrial policy and data-driven governance, noting the successful execution of the Mega DSC recruitment which facilitated the hiring of 16,000 teachers.
