Yucatán braces for tropical wave: scattered storms and temperatures up to 45 °C

A new tropical wave interacting with the Maya trough is expected to create unstable conditions over the Yucatán Peninsula. The weekend outlook shows a 60 % chance of rain and storms on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, especially in interior regions. Coastal areas are less likely to be affected, with only about a 20 % chance of isolated showers. The weather may coincide with the Mexico‑England World Cup round‑of‑sixteen match on Sunday, prompting advice to carry rain gear and seek shelter from lightning.

Overall, the combination of heat and scattered thunderstorms poses risks of lightning, strong winds and localized flooding, while the coastal tourist zones are expected to remain largely clear.
