Yucatán Government and Uber Mexico Offer Free Rides for Disabled Therapy Patients

On 6 August 2026, Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena of Yucatán signed a strategic partnership between the state’s DIF and Uber Mexico to provide free transportation for users of the Centro de Rehabilitación y Educación Especial (CREE). The program targets people with disabilities who need to travel to therapy and medical appointments, removing the cost barrier that often leads to missed sessions.

The first phase will allocate 500 rides, assigned according to socioeconomic criteria set by CREE. Governor Díaz Mena said, “Interrupting a treatment that requires continuity makes it difficult to achieve results; families often have to choose between a ride and basic needs.” The initiative aligns with the national inclusion strategy led by President Claudia Sheinbaum and aims to expand to more disabled residents across Yucatán.
