Yucatán government deepens outreach to Mexican migrants in California

The Institute for the Development of Maya Culture of Yucatán (Indemaya), led by director José Feliciano Moo y Can, met with Mexican consular officials in Oxnard and Los Ángeles, California. The discussions focused on expanding consular services, delivering birth certificates to children of Yucatecan migrants born in the United States, and promoting cultural programs such as the "Mi Casa es Tu Casa" initiative.

The meetings also addressed preserving Yucatán’s cultural heritage among the diaspora, with community members proposing a Yucatecan rodeo (vaquería) in Los Ángeles. The Yucatán government reiterated its commitment to support migrant families and maintain cultural ties between the state and its community in the United States.
