Yucatán presents 151 billion peso investment portfolio

Yucatán Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena presented a strategic investment portfolio to Concanaco Servytur México, highlighting the ‘Renacimiento Maya’ initiative. The plan includes 88 private projects valued at over 151 billion pesos, which have the potential to create more than 79,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Key infrastructure projects include the expansion of the Port of Progreso, the Maya Freight Train, and the development of Bienestar Development Poles in Progreso and Umán-Poxilá. Additionally, the administration is focusing on energy security through the Cuxtal II gas pipeline and new power plants to reach 4,225 megawatts by 2030. A Metropolitan Welfare Plan is also being implemented to improve security, water, and roads in the Mérida metropolitan area.

Economic indicators show significant growth for the region; during the first half of 2026, Yucatán captured 260.87 million dollars in foreign direct investment, a fourfold increase compared to the same period in 2025. While the state faces challenges in fully capitalizing on nearshoring due to energy, water, and legal certainty concerns, current trends show high employment rates and strong export growth.
