Yucatán reports economic growth and infrastructure progress
Two years into the administration of Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena, Yucatán reports significant progress in economic growth, infrastructure, and rural development. The state has achieved a 2.2% growth rate, which is four times the national average, supported by over 435,000 formal jobs and a portfolio of 88 private investment projects totaling approximately 151.8 billion pesos.
A major focus has been the expansion and modernization of the Puerto de Altura de Progreso. This project, involving over 12.5 billion pesos in combined public and private investment, aims to triple the port's operational capacity to support international trade and nearshoring. The first phase, funded by the state, has already concluded, while the second phase involved dredging by SSA Marine México.
In the agricultural sector, the government has implemented the 'Renacer Ganadero' program to strengthen livestock production. In Tizimín, investments have been directed toward cattle repopulation, rural road rehabilitation, and irrigation systems. Additionally, the state reports improvements in public safety, ranking first nationally in the IMCO Rule of Law sub-index and seeing a decrease in the perception of insecurity.
