Yucatán economic and infrastructure development

Overview

Under the administration of Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena, Yucatán has reported significant economic growth and infrastructure development. Early reports indicate a 2.2% growth rate, supported by over 435,000 formal jobs and 88 private investment projects. Key initiatives include the expansion of the Puerto de Altura de Progreso to support international trade and the ‘Renacer Ganadero’ program to bolster livestock production and rural infrastructure.

Subsequent developments show a focus on the export industry through collaboration with Index Yucatán. Efforts to provide fiscal certainty include negotiating with the Tax Administration Service (SAT) to resolve stalled VAT refunds for companies in the Manufacturing, Maquiladora, and Export Services (IMMEX) sector. Infrastructure progress continues with the third stage of the Progreso Dry Port modernization, the freight component of the Maya Train reaching 66% completion, and the expansion of the Mayakan Energy Gas Pipeline to increase natural gas availability by 2028.
