Yucatán Governor Signs Tax Agreements with Izamal and Progreso

Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena of Yucatán led the signing of administrative collaboration agreements on property‑tax collection with the municipalities of Izamal and Progreso. The accords let the towns use the state’s fiscal agency (AAFY) systems, electronic payment platforms and legal expertise, improving revenue collection and preserving local autonomy over tax rates and incentives.

The increased resources will be channeled into public works and services, including street repairs, public lighting, parks, markets, cleaning and other infrastructure projects. The municipalities will also gain access to 30 % of the growth component of the Federal Municipal Development Fund, adding federal funding to local initiatives. The governor highlighted that better tax collection translates into better services for families, and noted Yucatán’s recent national recognition for budget performance.
