Yucatán industrial activity grows amid major Bepensa investment
Yucatán is experiencing a period of industrial growth, characterized by significant private investment and consistent monthly increases in industrial activity.
Bepensa, a local company, recently inaugurated a new soft drink plant in Valladolid with an investment exceeding 1.2 billion pesos. The facility is expected to create 200 direct jobs. This development follows recent tensions between Coparmex Mérida president David Reyes Aguiar, who had expressed concerns regarding low investment sentiment in the region, and Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena, who maintained that the economic outlook remains optimistic.
According to data from Inegi, Yucatán has recorded eight consecutive months of growth in industrial activity. As of May 2026, the state saw a 3.7% annual increase in industrial activity, ranking it as the state with the sixth-highest growth in Mexico. This upward trend is supported by improvements in the mining sector and the energy, water, and gas distribution sectors.
