Yuen Long man appears in court over fatal dog attacks

Ng Sui-ting, a 52-year-old man from Yuen Long, appeared at Tuen Mun Magistrates’ Courts on Thursday facing charges related to a fatal dog attack. The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department charged Ng with permitting a large dog to enter or remain in a public place without proper restraint on two occasions: July 10 and August 17, 2026.

The charges stem from an incident near YOHO mall where a five-year-old Spanish mastiff named Larry, weighing over 50 kilograms, attacked and killed two smaller dogs within approximately 20 minutes. The dog was also reportedly involved in a separate incident on July 10 that resulted in an injury to another dog. During the August incident, police used shields and display boards to corral the animal before department staff could take control.

Acting Principal Magistrate Daniel Tang Siu-hung adjourned the case until October 29 for further mention. Ng was granted cash bail of HK$3,000 under conditions that he remains in Hong Kong, resides at his reported address, and does not contact prosecution witnesses.
