Yugo documentary “Yugo ide u Ameriku” begins nationwide cinema tour in Croatia

The Serbian‑Croatian documentary *Yugo ide u Ameriku*, directed by Filip Grujić and Aleksa Borković, follows a group of millennials travelling from New York to Los Angeles in a vintage Yugo car. After premiering at CPH:DOX in Copenhagen and winning audience awards at the Beldocs and Sarajevo Film Festivals, the film opened in Pula and will now be released across Croatia.

Distribution starts on 17 August with screenings in Split, Supetar (Brač), Šibenik, Zadar, Hvar, Jelsa, Bol, followed by premieres in Zagreb’s Tuškanac open‑air stage and Karlovac’s Edison cinema. The directors will attend the showings. The documentary explores the Yugoslav car’s export to 1980s America and serves as a nostalgic road‑trip narrative of identity and youth.
