Yulenmis Aguilar qualifies for javelin final at European Championships

Yulenmis Aguilar has qualified for the javelin throw final at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. The Cuban-born athlete, who resides in Spain, secured her place in the final with a best throw of 59.85 meters during the qualifying round.

Aguilar's performance placed her fifth overall in the qualifying standings. While she did not meet the 61-meter mark required for automatic qualification, her initial throw was sufficient to ensure a spot among the top twelve competitors. She opted not to take her third attempt to conserve energy for the final scheduled for Sunday.

Following the competition, Aguilar noted that while her distance was not exactly what she had hoped for, she remains optimistic about her medal prospects. This championship marks a significant return to major international competition following elbow surgery last year.
