Yván Lorenzo urges JCE to prevent asset auction in New York

Yván Lorenzo, Vice President of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), has called on the Central Electoral Board (JCE) to seek urgent conciliation to prevent the seizure and public auction of its assets in New York City.

A legal dispute has led to an embargo on the JCE's Manhattan office, with a public auction scheduled for October 1. Lorenzo warned that if the value of the seized furniture does not cover the total debt, legal action could extend to computer and operational equipment. Such a development could jeopardize the continuity of electoral services and the voter registry for citizens living abroad.

Lorenzo recommended direct dialogue between the JCE and the plaintiffs to resolve the conflict before the auction takes place, suggesting that central government intervention might also be necessary to protect the agency's operational plans and budget.
