Yvonne Whear identified as woman found dead in New South Wales

Police have identified the body of a woman found on a rural property in Terragon, New South Wales, as 73-year-old Yvonne Whear. Whear had been missing since February 19.

Her body was discovered last week by two trail bike riders in a partially submerged state within a stock dip on a property located approximately 20 kilometres south of Murwillumbah. Forensic examinations confirmed her identity following the discovery of her body in an advanced state of decomposition.

Whear was last seen on CCTV driving toward her hobby farm near Dungay on February 19. Mobile phone data indicated she was active on her device that afternoon, but her phone was last detected near Dungay on February 20. Her vehicle, a gold Ford Escape SUV, was previously located in the Rous River.

Officers from the State Crime Command’s homicide squad are being deployed to the Northern Rivers to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death. Detectives are expected to conduct further forensic testing and searches at her residence.
