ZŠ Kaplického school forced into emergency relocation in Liberec

Students of ZŠ Kaplického in Liberec face a sudden relocation crisis just days before the start of the school year. Although the school had already moved its furniture and equipment into a temporary facility owned by the Technical University of Liberec (TUL) to accommodate upcoming renovations, the move has been halted.

Fire safety authorities determined that the temporary building in Mařanova Street does not meet necessary safety and fire prevention standards, specifically regarding emergency exit capacities. Consequently, the school cannot obtain the required permits or exemptions to operate in that location.

School Director Pavel Zeronik stated that the administration had been urging the university to ensure the space was suitable for school use since late 2025, but the issue remained unresolved. As a result, staff and teachers must now perform an emergency three-day relocation to move all desks, textbooks, and electronic equipment back to the original Kaplického building to ensure classes can begin on September 1.
