Zacatecas organizations and lawmakers demand transparency over judge's suspension
Civil society organizations, unions, and federal deputy Noemí Luna are demanding transparency from the Judicial Discipline Tribunal regarding the suspension of federal judge María Citlallic Vizcaya Zamudio. The suspension, enacted on October 7, was reportedly based on alleged irregularities in amparo procedures.
Critics argue that the lack of public information regarding the legal grounds for the suspension raises concerns about political pressure. Supporters noted that Vizcaya Zamudio has issued several high-profile rulings in Zacatecas, including halting the “second floor” of the metropolitan boulevard, pausing the construction of the Milpillas dam, and granting amparos to ISSSTEZAC pensioners.
Deputy Luna expressed concern that the tribunal may be acting as a tool for political control, noting that the judge's previous rulings impacted major government projects and pension reforms. The groups are calling for the tribunal to clarify whether the judge retains her constitutional powers to admit lawsuits and issue injunctions.
